From the Diaries of Oshala
A New Life, A New Body

The last bit of life left his broken body, crushed beneath the earth which had served him earlier in battle, and his spirit retreated into that space-between-spaces which claimed the souls of others… But never his own. No. Though his most recent body was gone, reclaimed by the earth, death remained nothing more than a momentary inconvenience.

The strange druid opened his eyes in the most beautiful land he had yet seen, and knew that he was being called once again by the one who he called Lord, because no land in his plane of birth could have been so perfect. A bright, clear sky soared over wide plains dotted with small ponds and the occasional tree, one of which provided shade to the blue-tinged skin of his late body. From one of the lower branches hung a vibrant green serpent whose scales glinted in every color where the sun reflected off of them, and delicate ram’s horns curled back from above its brilliant blue eyes.

So soon? Your lord is displeased with this. You are too reckless. The ram-horned serpent whispered in his mind with its scales-over-leaves voice.

“I couldn’t agree more,” the reply came just as it had countless times before, “but I died in service of good men, and in the undertaking of my lord’s quest… I believe.” Here the memories came clearer, dozens of lifetimes threatening to overtake the druid, but he forced them down. “I will follow you, spirit, but do not think to lecture me.”

Slipping down from the branch, the serpent hung in the air like a swimmer, its sinuous length almost three times longer than Oshala’s height. Follow, then, one who would be a martyr. The serpent’s words were harsh, but a hint of wry humor colored the otherwise cool voice as it slid through the air with an easy, dreamlike grace. In fact, it sounded so much like Shesha for a second that the druid couldn’t contain a laugh as he trailed the serpent at an easy, ground-eating lope. With each step, the ground seemed to fly by faster and faster, and memories of past lives, better lives pushed themselves to the forefront, and for a time he forgot himself.

With the rest of the Circle, he stood before tree known as Dodana, bowing his head in supplication. “Your trial begins. Know that I have faith in you,” the Archdruid’s voice cut through his anxiety, giving him the strength to lift his gaze. The older man stepped out of his robes, bearing his tattoos like armor underneath the bright moon, and with a howl of challenge and exaltation, he flung himself into the change. Before the Archdruid hit ground, he had slipped into the skin of a great, white bear. The new initiate lifted his face to the sky and began to sing out praise to the forest, ignoring the burning of the marks that newly covered his skin, and the trees and grasses and vines heeded his call, lashing forward to bind the charging form. With almost casual effort, the white juggernaut pushed through the web of vegetation. But the storm of leaves wasn’t meant to stop something as powerful as one of the monarchs of the North. As a vine whipped in front of the Archdruid’s eyes, the nervous initiate’s form wavered like water, and in its place a raven shot towards the ferociously fast, but unagile opponent. Snapping his jaws, the Archdruid closed on the tip of a feather, but once again the initiate confounded him by shedding his feathers for scales, becoming a viper winding about the neck of the bear, fangs ready to strike. With a rumbling, basso chuckle, the bear and viper resolved into the two loinclothed, tattooed forms, the younger’s arm around the older’s throat and a dagger of bone poised to strike.

That memory, Oshala knew, was countless centuries ago, and the longest-kept memory he could count… bittersweet, as none from it except perhaps Dodana herself would be alive to remember… They had covered a great amount of ground since they began, but another memory came crashing forward, too powerful to overcome.

She sat beside a wolf, almost exactly a match for it in the feral beauty that each posessed, her dark hair cropped scandalously short for her kind, bearing the elegant tips of her ears, and the leather breeches and man’s chiton she wore would have been scandalous to any except the druids with which she made her home. “We have to at least make the attempt,” she implored. “There will be no future, no progress if we cannot break past these thrice-dammed walls!” She was beautiful, true, but that was not the only reason he loved her, far from it. She was compassionate, as dedicated to healing and aiding those in need as a mortal could possibly be, but she also had so much power in her. When the need arose, she wielded her spear with more skill than any other in the circle… and she was his. She led the chanting of the Circle’s Elders, the spell they wove building in power until it surpassed even lightning in intensity, or and earthquake in power. With this energy, they lashed out against the walls, light as bright as the sun searing a crack in the wall, and those assembled cheered at the accomplishment, the first recorded damage to the confounding walls. He remembered the time they had spent together, honing their skills with fang and magic and blade, adding their own trees to the Circle’s grove, and setting to the peaceful tasks the Archdruid assigned to them The monster released from the crack bared down on her, as she was the final one left from that fateful, cursed casting, and breathed forth searing flames from where the mouth would have been on its face, black and featureless except for the stars which swam across its night-sky skin. She howled in pain and blood curdling fear as death came for her, her very soul burned away in endless torment .

When this last memory left him, Oshala found that the serpent had led him to the base of a monstrous oak tree, its trunk seemingly a league wide, and its branches more than a day’s walk straight up. Nearly as impressive as the oak was the feature cross-legged in front of it….


Session Number 6
Continuation Day

Continuing shenanigans of Reefa Marketplace, Garren is chasing the female slave across rooftops, while the party tries to undertake obtaining new gear and weapons while hiding their dragons and star birds successfullly. Exchange of weight in goods for all of party. Garren eventually accidentally runs the slave off of the roof onto the guards which have been stalking Aednat, Grim, and the others. As she falls on the guards, a new player enters the field further complicating the situation. He is a cloaked, masked man. After the shenanigans ensue, the new man saves aednat from her observers and tries to save the indignant slave who refuses his help. Garren and the New man watch from rooftops as Der’ja almost gets attacked by the slaves before Grim and Oshala

Session Number 5
Hatching Day

The group started trading for their gear in the Thri-Kreen tribal marketplace, when their eggs (formerly known as the rocks that had teleported them together) began to grow and crack. They could see the outlines of their birds and had to spend several weeks stuck with their hatching eggs. Afterwards they followed their newly given hidden message towards Reefa to attempt to obtain the cure for the people still alive in Gen. Currently the population in Gen is critically low and may be gone by the time the adventurers return. The messenger joins the team, because he has a pseudodragon and an egg, and wants to learn more about why his dragon is retarded. After almost dying on the two week trek across the desert, they would have ensuing adventures separately.

Aednat’s point of view:
Conducting our business in the town of the Mantes people, I have received an adolescent peach tiger. Once failing at bonding with it at the vender, I was given a muzzle and lead for the tiger and I returned to the main shopping tent district. There, my egg-rock began to glow and become warm. Upon showing affection, it grew and then hatched 7 days later into the legend Chocobo. We then head to Reefa to discover the cure that they kept secret from the world to discourage visitors to their evil city. Drawing close to the city a few weeks later, a possible large group of desert guerrilla fighters. Once letting my tiger free, the very large group of animals and people uncovered themselves and the newest entry to the party tranced it to return to the cart that we hired to span the desert. The catfolk slave [slavery is illegal in all quadrants] ensured our safe entry and then we disguised the chocobos and dragons as common items in order to enter the outer-city marketplace. Grim and the newcomer went to the library. While traveling to buy saddle leather, tiger armor, and assortments, I rescued my hawk, Flutterby, from a cage. I head to the jewelry shop, sending my hawk after Grim to help raise the selling price of my bracelets.

Session Number 4

The group trips over a gnome tied up in the snow. He has no memory of where he has come from. He has proper gear for the crossroads and is followed by a Clear dragon. He joins the group and leads them in the correct direction. By the time they reach the city it has been decimated, with almost none of its population remaining. The guards are extremely uncooperative, but the group is accosted by tribal Thri-Kreen. They find out that the black pseudodragon has become injured and take the group by force to their village. Their chieftain was a father figure to these young pseudodragons. They find that they are not guilty and are released. The tiger cub that Aednat had gathered is returned to it’s original owners. She is informed of the market district and everyone heads to improve their gear

Session Number 3

Everyone arrives at the bustling City of Shottas and follows Der’ja to his nip farm only to meet two new people, an ifrit and a dwarf. They have a quest from separate cities of the Desert district(who have now been waiting for several weeks) to receive the medicine from any of the nip farmers along the fertile shores of the volcanic river. Grim settled a fight and made a deal with each party when they saw another member who has been on their team before floating down the river (drowning.) Der’ja saves her and is assaulted by her rainbow pseudodragon. They decide to go to the bath-house since it was too late to begin their quest. They accidentally blow a hole in the wall of the bath-house and Snow decides to take her own path. The next morning everyone heads out to the elevators to begin their mission. The Dwarf shoots the operator in the ear, ripping it off. From this point on the group will be persecuted when trying to change quadrants. The episode ends when they meet a large water elemental when moving across the crossroads.

Session 2: Day of the Temporal Shift

~ Today, Jared, Johnathan and I had a campaign where we were reviewing a past dungeon that was erased from our memories after completion. The events were as follows:
*First room: Orc triggers a trap, turns into a pink female, and runs from the dungeon as her armor falls from her body. Small dining room attached with enchanted food, which enrages the tiger lady after she opens a servant door with a skeleton warrior behind, whom dies quickly. The small cat rogue knocked her out, as we leave the room and throw the tiger lady into the next enchanted door. She then transforms into a Thundercat and looses her previous memory. We then continue down the hall, and enter a second room.
*Second room: Tiger lady walks across room to the right corner barrel, stepping over three trip wires. Eventually, a rock turned into a pearl-like marble by a enchanted pressure plate, and two door handles to fancier door handles after being dipped in the second barrel. The third trip wire splits the cat guy’s tail, the second makes the bird man paraplegic, and the first is never triggered. But, the cat guy takes the split pressure plate and throws it into the open barrel, which begins smoking, causing us all to run to then next room and close the doors.
*Third room: My tiger, yes I have a tiger for this, opens the next door, as a ghost dwarf warns us to not do so. He then teleports us to a room similar to the river room from the current dungeon, with a throne. The water makes the bird man and cat boy go nuts, while my tiger is unskeletalized. The two are questioned by the ghost as I sat in the throne. Soon, we are sent back into the previous room, which we leave through the second room, which is now coated in solidified, cool lava, and into the hallway. We open the end door.
*Fifth room: The room has two doors and a small pressure plate in the center. The two doors lead to a single room of gold, where we meet four dragons, a gold dragon for me, a black dragon for Jared, a red dragon for Johnathon, and a rainbow dragon for the tiger lady. The dragons are telepathic, so the gold dragon communicates with me just fine. The dragons gift us with gold items.
We then leave the dungeon and all the characters were hit in the head with black arrows, erasing our memories and the dragons went away with our newly acquired belongings. I left that time believing it was all a dream.
~ Returning to the present dungeon, the arena, pj has fainted as we face a drider. After being easily defeated by me, and a little of Jared, we loot the body, and these shadows appear on the ground. The dragons reappear, and give us our stuff back. After a small, ill-remembered reunion, the dragons return to the river room, and Jared fills his goblet with the healing waters.

Session Number 1

Our adventurers begin their storyline with a jolt out of reality. They are dragged out of their timelines by small egg shaped rocks, which, with even a touch drag them through a void to a snowy sanctuary where they are immediately beset by Gnomes. They have been invited to a set of ruins which have long since been abandoned by its creators. The Gnomes guard these ruins with their lives, and laugh greatly at the expense of the adventurers. The adventurers quickly solve the puzzle of the entryway and find themselves in an almost linear dungeon. They are confounded by water with mysterious properties and almost battle huge fire elemental snakes. The water allows them to enter doorways and interacts with the runes of the creators of these ruins in ways that most other things will not. They work their way back and forth through the ruins, but are forced from examining the last tunnel by the advent of a extra planar drider, although they do not know this name and have never seen anything like it before. They save their unconscious friend from being eaten by the drider and wear it down until it finally dies. The party goes to leave their adventure with loot of gold and literature and are joined by friends from an adventure that took place long ago, which none of them can remember due to a magic attack.
